collect the golden coins of self-expression,
self-discovery, self-deconstruction.

Don’t we all want to be superheroes—
throw kicks and punches
that can knock the assholes and obstacles
out of our lives and into another dimension.

And don’t we all wish the past would stop
banging on our damn doors
and just leave us alone to play our music
as loud as we fucking want to.

We all just want to escape.
But we’re not allowed to press play again.
