Drinking Hopes of Us

What do you have in your glass?
The one next to you, in front of you.
I’ll tell you what I have in mine.

Might you freeze your wine before bedtime
and save it for another day?

After all that is what we do when life must be put to rest.
We rest our minds on the cool glass and drink the crushed.

Us: a container broken.
