Drunken Karaoke: Danileigh

The Triple-Threat is a recipe for success that a lot of artists follow in order to establish longevity. Over time, that idea has changed on what the three traits can be. Back in the day, some would say music, fashion and movies. Now, artists choose to blend genres in order to become a triple-threat. Dance continues to be a common skill in order to solidify this status as many have seen from artists like Usher, Janet Jackson to Chris Brown, Tinashe and many more.

An artist who has entered this realm is Danileigh. Some may be familiar with the artist from her top singles, ‘Lil’ Bebe’ & the Chris Brown-assisted ‘Easy’ from a few years ago. She is known for her sultry dance moves and her ability to ride that line of singer/rapper in her music. In her first two years, she released her debut album, ‘The Plan’, built up a following on social media and continuously put out content for her fans. This month, the ‘Dominican Mami’ returns with her sophomore effort, MOVIE.

Just from the looks of the cover and the accompanying film that she has released on YouTube, Danileigh sets the tone for the story she tells throughout the album. She depicts the highs and lows of a previous relationship and the lessons learned along the way. I’m a fan of the conceptual albums that shows the depth of an artist and their ability to paint a picture for the listeners to envision and relate to. On the album, listeners can find collaborations with PARTYNEXTDOOR, Ty Dolla $ign, DaBaby and more to compliment the project.

Danileigh has a song for every situation you have or are currently going through in your life. New relationships (‘Situations’, ‘My Terms’), breakups (‘Put U On’, “Bullshit’, ‘Mistreated’) to self worth (‘Famous’, ‘Keeper’). Her signature style of being able to switch from singing to rapping stands out on her previously released singles, ‘Levi High’, ‘Dominican Mami’ & ‘Monique’. In her first two years, she has made her presence known in the industry. You can see the growth in her music and her artistry. Can’t wait to see what’s next for the musician.
