Drunken Karaoke: Halfofyou – La Introduccion

One thing I like about music is discovering new artists. Watching a musician begin their journey from inception and witnessing their growth is something special. For some that path to music stardom isn’t the easiest and they hit a few roadblocks on the way. The ones that persevere and show grit are the ones you should keep an eye out for. This describes this next artist, Halfofyou.

I first became introduced to this Cuban-bred Florida musician back in 2018 through mutual friends. The artist released his single ‘Miami’ and was captivated by the unique sound and the imagery painted in the song. At this point, Halfofyou was in the midst of finding his signature sound. His early catalog has a mixed bag of unique styles ranging from R&B to Hip/Hop songs as seen in his late 2018 single ‘The Hiatus’. This song, in particular, captured listeners with his honesty illustrating his music stardom. The artist moved from Florida to the North East in pursuit of his musical career hoping to find fame in the Big Apple.

While in the New England area, he began working on a new project. After trying multiple sounds, Halfofyou decided to take it back to his Spanish roots and release a Spanish single entitled ‘Por Ti’. Upon release, the song became an instant hit with his fans and the artist decided to play to his strengths and curate this into what would become his latest effort, La Introduccion.

The five song EP further showcases the artist’s Cuban roots with different sounds calling from Reggaeton, Electronic, R&B and more. The first track ‘Bellaquera’ kicks off the project with sensual vibes to get people dancing and from beginning to end the party doesn’t end. The EP has one feature from his Grocery Store Records labelmate, Gabrielknowseverything who’ve highlighted on Daily Drunk a few articles ago, on the track ‘Yallah’. The project ends with his new single ‘Diablita’, a song that is quickly becoming a fan favorite for the artist.

Halfofyou’s journey has a been a pleasure to watch and to experience first-hand. Over the last two years, I’ve gotten to know the artist and see his passion for music upfront. The drive and the willing to do whatever it takes to make it in the industry can be seen in his music. La Introduccion is a true testament as it solidifies that this is only the beginning for the artist. I’m glad to say that I cannot wait to see what the future holds this artist and I will be there to witness it when it happens.

Drunken Karaoke Poems

Bellaquera

Weather’s cooling down

But time to heat things up

Arrested about your love

Tis the season to be cuffed

I want your hands behind your head

You don’t have to remain quiet

Telling you your rights all over your body

With my tongue how you like it

Guide me where you want

Just take me on a journey

This right here wasn’t by accident

I want to be left needing a gurney

Always cautious about this feeling

Yet I’m glad you didn’t warn me

Cuidao con mi corazón

After one night with you

I don’t want it to be alone

Singing sweet nothings

of your favorite song

This right here feels right

I don’t want it to be wrong

Diablita

Dancing with the devil

And watch her drag me to hell

I fell in love with the burns

My heart begins to swell

I feel the heat all around me

Dancing with the embers

Waiting for this to cool off

And become cold like December

Gire el cuerpo a la izquierda

La pasión está abierta

Gire el culo a la derecha

Pronto, reserva la fecha

Cállate…

Esperándote

Lo haré mientras tenga que

Abrázame

Bésame

Getting carried away by the Spanish

Hungry for you, been a little famished

I don’t want to seem too outlandish

Just dance the night away is my one wish
