The Underbelly of Christmas

Have yourself a merry little breakdown,
Ho ho ho’s are picking clients in the snow.
Festive cheer the drinkers fear —
The morning shakes are near.
Pop open the bubbly, pop a CBD
Or two or more; nobody’s keeping score.
Light the fire and sniff away all those tears
and fears with your magic powder,
the turkey is cremated as so too, are you and I
— my darling.
Don’t you know it ‘tis the best day of the year for giving you shit like my unwanted love.
You can return to sender in the cold month of January. Silent Night is when you’re dead,
the Christmas lights illuminate
— the leftovers of us.
