Happy New Year, folks! The holidays season is now past us and with the new year brings new music for you guys to enjoy. During the last two weeks, there was some big releases in music and I’m here to recap one of the standouts that released during the month of December: Jack Harlow. The Louisville rapper blew up the Billboard charts last year with his hit single, ‘What’s Poppin’ and released his debut album, ‘That’s What They All Say’ last month.
The 22 year old Kentuckian has released a few projects over the last few years when he first became signed to Atlantic Records. Thanks to social media platform, Tik Tok, Jack Harlow’s career took off as ‘What’s Poppin’ became a popular trend which yielded an all-star studded remix featuring Lil’ Wayne, DaBaby & Tory Lanez. The spotlight was on him as he made the 2020 XXL Freshman Class, a co-sign from celebrities and athletes including Tyler Herro, a friend of the rapper whose Jack Harlow’s second single is named.
‘That’s What They All Say’ finds Jack Harlow showing versatility in his rapping abilities and he brings along a slew of features to round an impressive debut including, Lil’ Baby, Chris Brown, Adam Levine and Big Sean for his latest single, ‘Way Out’. Throughout the beginning of his career, Jack Harlow has built a friendship with fellow Louisville artist, Bryson Tiller. They first collaborated on a song entitled ‘Thru The Night’ and the two reunite on his latest album for the standout track ‘Luv Is Dro’.
If we learned anything in 2020 is that the power of social media will catapult an artist into the forefront and Jack Harlow is an example. With a hit single and a solid debut album, I’m excited to see what’s next for the rapper. Hopefully we get to attend concerts and festivals in 2021 as I expect Jack Harlow to have a big year.
