Rock ‘n’ Roll is dead

But do we still feel the need

To air shred?

Low single figures

The number of mirrors

I’ve encountered

And not felt the need

For a pout and

A fake power chord

The adoring crowd of one

The perfect guitar strap and plectrum combo

The microphone stand sitting just right

Ready for non-stop anthems

In the greatest show of all time

Then your partner walks in

And you wouldn’t feel as embarrassed

If it was the other thing

That would be more understandable

Than playing at being another cocksure demi-god.
