Drunken Karaoke: Trevor Jackson Poems

Read Reggie’s Review on The Love Language Here

Be Yourself

I see you have good intentions

among other things not to mention

But I think you need to listen

I can see what you missing

That love and the affection

Gets masked by imperfections

Instead of asking questions

Life passing you by with the lessons

You only one call away

2003 Chingy

I can just imagine you

Lovey dovey and clingy

Now you wanna Ginuwine

And act stingy

How we can be

When you don’t trust me

Enough to show me you

I’m dreaming, I must be

Somebody will choose you and get lucky

To give you what you need

Sorry it’s not me

Your Everything

I could be your every

But you have a problem with being a thing

Want to exchange vows with me first

Before we even exchange rings

Baby steps

We got crawl before we can run

If we stumble before we stand on common ground

Let’s face it, we’re done

Can’t be built on rocky foundations

Masked by gifts and extended vacations

You just feeding into physical temptations

Leading to mental deprivations

Psychological degradation

Let’s take things slow

Do not pass go

Plant the thought in our heads

And let’s give it time to grow

Get To You

I used to really act up

Use to blame it on being a cancer

I used to question my own actions

Hoping I would find the answer

And I did yes I did

Armband and headband like I’m AI

Past relationships seem so fake

So robotic like they AI

Done making them Same Ol Mistakes

Done thinking Anti

But like Rihanna I’m about my business

And when love comes around again

Maybe it’ll peak my interest

Let’s look at best case and worst case

Maybe I’ll find love in a hopeless place

Or maybe Issa pain and go start a hoe phase

And then I’ll go back to being insecure

Vaccination ain’t the cure

Is love worth the battle, if we didn’t enlist in the war

Maybe it’s false maybe it’s true

Hmm oh well what can you do

Maybe I can figure it out if I can get closer to you
