Drunken Karaoke: Doja Cat

Since arriving on the scene, Doja Cat has continued to be one of the most eclectic artists in today’s music. Since the release of her viral debut single, ‘Moo!’, the rapper’s trajectory has continued to reach new heights. Social media platforms Tik Tok, Twitter & IG have aided in her rise up the charts with 2020’s hit singles, ‘Say So’ & ‘Streets’. After a slew of features for other artists, Doja Cat returns with the release of her third studio album, Planet Her.

Since Fall 2020, Doja Cat has teased the release of the album revealing it to be her most complete album embodying her unique style. She led the project with her Billboard Top 5 charting Hot 100 Single, ‘Kiss Me More’ featuring SZA. From the visuals and the sound, listeners will notice the concept that the artist was going for with this album. At first listen, the rapper leans heavily towards a more Pop driven sound incorporating more singing than rapping. The duality is displayed on her single, ‘Need to Know’ and The Weeknd-assisted track, ‘You Right’. Features from Young Thug, Ariana Grande, JID, Eve & Gunna compliment the project very well in terms of overall sound.

Doja Cat’s Planet Her album is a perfect example of how the artist continues to carve her own lane in the music industry. I’m glad to see her expand her artistry by singing more on her music. She shows no signs of slowing down and fans will be pleased with this project for the summer. Add it to your playlist and press play as you can find Planet Her on all music streaming services.

Drunken Karaoke Writings

I Don’t Do Drugs

You Right

I Don’t Do Drugs

It’s funny how I miss

The itch

The sensation when we kiss

Balling fists

Ooh the times I reminisce

Your love is my drug

2010 Kesha

Not talking about a talk show

When I say you got that extra

Extra I been read all about it

Been tested the waters

I know that you about it

Face to face

Tied together

No lace

Couldn’t replace

The taste

The motion and the pace

Everything you did was effortless

And with grace

hard for me to let you go

But what you did I couldn’t hide it

No matter what I didn’t fold

I made it through fighting

You Right
You know what

At the end of the day

You was right

Traveling through my mind

And all we had to do is take that flight

Yeah we both got baggage

That’s why we get it checked

And we take it for what it is

And we show each other respect

Holding onto unresolved issues

Doing so much trying to neglect

Gotta prepare the next one who come along

And get they chance to intercept

You right

I did

And now I can lay the thought to rest

An infatuation of what could be

Something I like to do best

You put a smile on my face

Nice & healthy like some Crest

But don’t worry

At least I got my feelings off my chest
