When plans call for smashing a helmet over your face and hiding out for a while, reach for a Pyxis Pilsner to take you far, far away. This pilsner appears to be named after the Pyxis constellation of stars, which is said to resemble a ship’s compass, but probably not Mando’s ship. The Razor Crest (The Mandalorian’s ship) is a complex system of buttons, monitors, switches, levers, mood lighting, lasers, and things that make spaceships thrust upwards. A sea-faring vessel, on the other hand, is distinct because it’s missing the upward thrusters; thus the entire compass system would look different. In any case, I’m pairing the Pyxis with watching The Mandalorian, much in the same way that deep pits of sand pair well with tentacled creatures. They make sense if you want them to, and there’s plenty of sense in that.
The Pyxis Pilsner by the Ecliptic Brewing company is a refreshing German-style lager that’s pretty solid. No surprises, unless you decide to walk into a bar on the ice planet Pagodon and spill someone’s drink. I prefer the less surprising version—the kind that doesn’t get spilled during someone else’s scuffle. The kind that goes down light and smooth, with a full, hoppy flavor. That way, you can sip, while staying on your toes, watching episodes of The Mandalorian, zooming from planet to planet, hoping the adorable Grogu just rips the nob off of one of the Razor Crest’s controls or makes the neighbor’s dog levitate. Plus, the Pyxis Pilsner comes in a super-cool far-out star-studded can.
So grab a blaster, a beer named after any constellation, and slip among the stars, with space in your face. This is the way.
