It’s been a wild ride for SZA to get to her sophomore album. This rollout started in 2020 and the anticipation built over the course of the pandemic. December proved to be end of the wait as we received SOS. This project was gift wrapped and a bow added just in time for Christmas as the project is a masterpiece from start to finish.
In five years, fans old and new will notice one major thing in her music, growth. Discussion of previous relationships and situations continue to be explored but SZA incorporates various musical styles to accompany the journey the album takes its listeners on. She experiments with rap, pop, rock, and experimental instrumentations that accompany for flawless vocals across 23 tracks. It’s hard to pinpoint favorite track as each track on the album can easily be a single for this era.
I’m happy for SZA. Fresh off its release, SOS has become the number 1 album in the country breaking numerous records and counting. 2023 will be busy for her with a tour and I can’t wait to see what will come from this sophomore effort. SZA’s SOS was worth the wait and can easily be considered one of the best albums of 2022. Check out her album on all streaming services and click the link for a surprise.
