Chlöe: In Pieces

Chlöe Bailey has been one of the most talked about artists over the last few years. Many people have been divided over her solo music catalog throughout the 2020s. Most praising her vocal ability and her willingness to branch out from her sister, Halle. Others have categorized her into a box as Beyoncé’s protege following her blueprint throughout her music and live performances. March saw her release her debut studio album In Pieces and while still following in her mentor’s footsteps, her individuality shines on the solo effort.

The journey to get here was a challenging one for Chlöe as she released a quartet of singles from 2021 to 2022, all of which were scrapped for her album. She emerged at the top of 2023 with a lead single, “Pray It Away”, a slow tempo sound that was a departure from her previous singles. There are few features on the album from Chris Brown, Future & Missy Elliott. In the 38 minute project, listeners take a dive into the artist’s journey through relationships, heartbreak and redemption.

Hate it or love it, Chlöe gave a solid solo debut effort on her album. Amongst some filler tracks that showcased her versatility across different genres, the singer showcased a complete theme that carried from start to finish. You can listen to the album on all music streaming platforms.

Worried

Funny that I been…

Working on my own

And been working on my self

To think you actually cared

Put your feelings away on the top shelf

Couldn’t drink away your woes

Not even top shelf

Couldn’t stomach the bad intentions

I knew you was bad for my health

Why you worried?

Explanations so storied

Used to cater to your every move

Back then it seemed hurried

Slow down

Just slow it down

Had to get this back on track

And realize that I’m the one thing

You not ever getting back

Cheatback

Keep this stuck in tow

To put you out your misery

Be out here leaving clues

But you clueless and that’s the mystery

Be spiteful in my actions and in spite of it all

Have you missing me

Dissing me

Want that beef

Serve it to someone who will be listening

Glistening

Yeah, karma look good on you

Yet I feel bad, because at a time I saw the good in you

And now you feel some type of way towards me

Well why wouldn’t you

If I cheat back

Maybe I could recover all the the emotions

Not in tact

Show a girl all the good things that you said I lacked

Maybe you’ll know how to act

If I cheat back

Heart On My Sleeve

Wear my heart on my sleeve

And the blood on your hands

And maybe it would be different

If I gave you a chance…

And I did and you blew it

Twisted up, misconstrued it

Almost better off with bullets

Had so much to gain but I saw you lose it

Wear my heart on my sleeve

Guess it was a distraction

And I faced the consequences

Of your actions
