There a few musicians that when you say their name, you can associate them with greatness. Their celebrity and talent carries so much magnitude that with every release of something new, people flock to them to either praise or criticize. The trajectory of this next artist has been an amazing one to witness and to think that this person is one of my main inspirations for writing. That person is Aubrey ‘Drake’ Graham.
The former Degrassi actor turned musician has been making waves for over a decade releasing timeless music that everyone can enjoy. He has become such a driving force in the music industry that with every new release, the anticipation heightens as fans wonder can he outdo himself? His upcoming album, Certified Love Boy has been delayed until the Spring, but this past weekend, he returned with a 3 song EP entitled Scary Hours 2.
Now the last time we were blessed with Scary Hours, we received his hit single God’s Plan that went on to top the Billboard Charts. His introductory track, ‘What’s Next’, seems that it will follow suit as in just three days of being released, it is on track to debut at #1 in its first week of release. As time tells, Drake’s first single for projects are always heavy hitting anthemic songs packed with some memorable one-liners. The EP finds two features from Lil’ Baby on the track ‘Wants & Needs’ and Rick Ross on the ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle’. Over the years Drake & Rick Ross have come together to make some unforgettable collaborations such as ‘Aston Martin Music’, ‘Lord Knows’ and ‘Diced Pineapples’. ‘Lemon Pepper Freestyle’ does not disappoint and fans may soon see the pair come together for a rumored collaboration album in the future.
2021 is turning into the year of Drake as these three songs serve as a precursor for what’s to come the rest of the year. We know in just a matter of days, we will be hearing ‘What’s Next’ everywhere. You can stream Scary Hours 2 on all major streaming services.
