Silver City Brewery’s “Ride the Spiral” Pineapple-Orange Double IPA Review

Wholesome, after-school snacks from a can are just the thing to have on hand when the kids come home with terrifying tales of ripped pants and how Johnny’s unmasked coughing spells resulted in an ectoplasmic uprising of paranormal proportions. Just “ride the spiral,” a pineapple-orange twist of summer memories, when everyone was safe, home, and drunk.

Silver City Brewery’s “Ride the Spiral” Pineapple-Orange Double IPA is a tangy trip along the twisty slide on the playground. First, you breeze through pineapple sensations—but not too quickly because you can actually taste the pineapple. And then, there’s a blast of orange peel that pulls you around the corner, emptying you into full-bodied hoppy bliss.

But what’s a double IPA? you might ask. According to The Beer Connoisseur magazine, it’s just a really, super hoppy beer, which means the brewers have to balance out those hops with malt, which results in a high alcohol content. In other words, third-period science class is over if you get a double IPA anywhere near the Bunsen burners, but it would be totally worth it, I suspect. You might even get out of gym class too.

So pull out that school supplies list of 5,000 items that can only be found in ten stores scattered throughout twenty different counties, and put Silver City Brewery’s “Ride the Spiral” Pineapple-Orange Double IPA at the top. You’re in for one heck of a wholesome treat—and—if you buy enough of this beer for Teacher Appreciation Day, you’ll be a freakin’ PTA legend.
