100-word Film Review: Napoleon Dynamite

Sixteen years later it’s still hard to say how Napoleon Dynamite became the phenomenon that it did. Unlikely as it might seem, the film about a nerdy, socially-awkward, dancing guy who’s in terrible need of chapstick—and also happens to own a “fat lard” of a llama named Tina—is actually worth your time. Watch Napoleon dance his soul out to help Pedro win the school election and cringe at Uncle Rico’s desperate attempts at being sensual. Or watch Napoleon’s cousin Kip fall head-over-heels in love with “LaFawnduh,” his online love. It’s all gold— and it’s worth your time!

Elizabeth Bates has an appreciation for social awkwardness and chapstick, so naturally she enjoyed Napoleon Dynamite
